Anime is the art of Japanese animation and it’s been taking the world by storm for some time now. Ask your friendly neighborhood geek. He’ll tell you. He’ll probably likely also reach for the inhaler when you tell him that that the Anime Convention is back for another year in Philadelphia.
Zenkaikon, a local convention celebrating Japanese animation, comics, science fiction, and video gaming, runs for two full days, October 17-18, 2008, at the Valley Forge Scanticon Hotel & Conference Center.
Like any self-respecting convention, there will be concerts, dances, panels, video screenings, costume contests, gaming tournaments with not a single dull moment to be found. Wondering where they got that crazy cool name Zenkaikon? Back in the mists of pre-history in 2006 two conventions decided to merge, Zentrancon and Kosaikon. Each was dedicated to anime and science fiction but decided it would make good sense to pool their resources. Now with twice the staff, twice the interest, and tremendous response from attendees of both, it appears Zenkaikon will be with us for quite some time.
2008 guests include award-winning science fiction author C.J. Henderson, voice actor Bill Rogers (Gravitation, His and Her Circumstance, The Third), voice actress Michelle Knotz (Pokemon, The World of Narue), and Japanese rock band The Slants.
You can find out all the information your heart desires about Zenkaikon here. The Scanticon Valley Forge Hotel and Conference Center is located at 1210 1st Avenue, King of Prussia, PA, only minutes from Philadelphia.
Geeks everywhere unite and flourish!
