Making kids healthy, wealthy, and wise : Vegas Night at Manayunk Brewery

Las Vegas comes to Philadelphia! Sort of. The Manayunk Brewery proudly announces Vegas Night at the brewery Thursday, September 4, 2008, from 6:30pm to midnight. It’s not just for fun either, though they seem pretty certain there will be plenty of that to go around. This event is a fundraiser for the Fight to Learn Program and will be hosted by CBS 3 anchor, Mr. Ukee Washington. If you’ve ever been of a mind to help out a charity, this one is worth taking a look at.

Fight to Learn was founded by former professional welter weight boxing champ and two time boxing Hall of Famer Rodney Moore. In a nutshell, Moore created Fight to Learn so kids would have structured activities in safe place during non-school hours in order to have a chance to learn and grow without being victimized by the unsavory elements that sometimes surround unsupervised children. The target group is young boys and girls ages 6-12, especially from low and moderate income backgrounds. Fight to Learn uses academics, life skills training, and athletics to accomplish its mission.

Further, the program offers the opportunity to improve their literacy, and computer and social skills to develop the child as a whole person, in mind, body, and spirit, and help rebuild communities in need of help.
