Just when you thought our fair city had seen it all. Wait ‘til you get a load of these two sexy beasts sucking virgin female blood on stage at 941 Theater in the midst of a raucus Philly Fringe week. The Vampire Lesbians of Sodom (VLOS) are coming to Philadelphia! From ancient Sodom and Gomorrah to modern Las Vegas, this saucy farce tells the tawdry tale of two sexy beasts who love the spotlight but hate each other and just…can’t…seem…to…quit.
Brought to you by To The Wall Productions, VLOS creates a unique, burlesque-style farce harkening to other classic musical vamps like Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical. The saucy love story begins 2,000 years ago, springs forward to 1920’s Hollywood, and finally crash lands in the clutches of our modern sin city, the beloved Las Vegas.
These two bloodsucking gals find themselves dodging columnists, eluding vampire hunters, and jealous matinee idols. A tale this sordid could only have sprung from the creative juice behind Camp, one Charles Busch.
Director Dawn K. Cowle had this to say about VLOS. “I thought it would be exciting to take this campy show that was meant to embrace the art of burlesque sketch and combine the classic with the contemporary – to breathe new life into this Off Broadway hit, and give it a sexy, dirty, rock ‘n roll feel.”
Sexy? Dirty? Rock ‘n roll? Where do I sign up?
Vampire Lesbians of Sodom is now in full swing at the 941 Theater, located at 941 North Front Street, Philadelphia, PA 19176. Tickets are $15. You can find the full show schedule here.
This show has got to be Philadelphia history in the making.
