It’s a massive haunted house in a real prison. If that ain’t soil-your-pants scary, I don’t know what is. Terror Behind the Walls is brought to you by Eastern State Penitentiary (ESP). You’ve heard the tales, seen it on television, driven past the gates, or maybe even been there yourself (hopefully, not as an inmate).
For 177 years, the brooding edifices of ESP have guarded the Philadelphia region like a monstrous hellhound. While prisoners haven’t called it home for decades, you can bet the place would throw a great haunted house, after you invest in some diapers, of course.
Last year, Hauntworld magazine voted ESP the 6th scariest haunted house in America. That’s tall praise indeed because there’s nothing Americans like to put more time and effort into than scaring the bejesus out of their friends and family.
Wanna know what sort of soul-ripping terror-filled attractions you’re going to be in for? Of course you do.
Lockdown – Find yourself lost in a world of electric fences, dark corridors, and rattling cell doors. Oh yeah. And you’re not alone.
Intake – Board a prison bus for a fun-filled frolic to the processing center, de-lousing chamber, fingerprinting, mug shots, and a visit with the warden himself.
13 Rooms – Wander the mess hall, kitchen, laundry, and morgue. Did I mention the roaming guards, unruly inmates, and other shocking surprises? I didn’t? Nevermind then.
The Experiment – The prison doctor is performing an unauthorized experiment and he needs volunteers. But the prisoners are taking over in this bit of science gone terribly wrong.
There’s more. Lots more but I’m not sure your feeble heart could take it. Just put on your very best underwear and click here for schedule and prices for Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary, located at 22nd Street and Fairmont Avenue, Philadelphia, PA.
Everybody’s needs a little heart-stopping terror now and then.
