Beatles fans of Philadelphia unite!
Remember the 1960’s when gas cost 31 cents a gallon and The Beatles ruled the world? I don’t, because I was too young and absent-minded for those halcyon days but, boy, I’ve heard the stories. Recapture this by-gone era at the Society Hill Playhouse with a ticket to She Loves You! This grand mix of 30 songs performed live, classic television footage, clips from newsreels, commercials from the era, and bits from variety shows will have you nodding in agreement to The Connecticut Post, which said, “For Beatles fans ‘She Loves You!’ is perfection.
Live performance? Aren’t half of The Beatles dead and half of the those remaining (Paul MaCartney) still bickering in courts over a few trillion dollars owed his ex-wife? You are correct, sir! These Beatles are different musicians who dress the part and play the instruments just like the original lads from Liverpool. To be fair, they don’t look EXACTLY alike but I’ll give an ‘A’ for effort. Take a gander here. Paul, John, and George get a solid B+. But the Ringo dude? I’m sure he plays the hell out of those drums but looks a little shall we say…not even remotely in the Ringo ballpark?
This show would be the perfect time to bring along younger friends or family who missed the sights and sounds of Beatlemania at its peak. Hello? I was too young. Someone take me. Is anyone listening out there?
