Once upon a time, before Heather Mills and disgustingly public divorce battles, there was a time when the Beatles were cool. Back when Sir Paul McCartney was just plain Paul McCartney, and he teamed with John Lennon to write dozens of the best songs ever heard in rock and roll.
Throw in George Harrison and Ringo Starr, and millions of crazed, screaming fans. Call them The Beatles. Watch out, America!
Paul and Ringo are the only two of the Fab Four still breathing and that go ‘round with Heather had to have put a strain on old McCartney’s ticker and sanity, as well as the billionaire’s pocketbook.
We haven’t seen a live Beatles performance in nearly forty-years. Until now. Experience Beatlemania from Ed Sullivan to Abbey Road at the Mann Center for Performing Arts.
RAIN is a multi-media fusion of historical footage and live musical tribute to The Beatles. They look like them. They sound like them. The Denver Post calls it, “The next best thing to seeing The Beatles!”
This ain’t no Milli Vanilli lip-syncing scandal. All the music and vocals in RAIN are performed live.
More orgasmic newspaper reviews:
Boston Herald, “Uncanny! RAIN are a quartet of fine musicians in their own right…as The Beatles, they triumph!”
Washington Post, “An adoring Valentine to The Beatles!”
Dare I even insult your intelligence by mentioning some of the songs? “Let It Be,” “Hey Jude,” “My Guitar Gently Weeps,” “Come Together,” and “Can’t Buy Me Love.” Maybe they’ll even dust off and play my back of the closet favorite “Back In The USSR.”
You have two chances to catch RAIN, Saturday, June 21, 2008, at 8:00 pm, then again Sunday, June 22, 2008, at 8:00 pm. The second show includes fireworks. I’m assuming the stage crew will be setting off fireworks under controlled conditions and not issuing handfuls of roman candles and matches to random audience members.
Though that could be fun too.
Tickets are on sale now at the Mann Center.
