Psst…go ahead and touch it: Please Touch Museum Gala

One thing they’ve learned over 11 years of expansion – kids like to touch stuff. REALLY like to touch stuff. We’ve built an entire museum based on that little truism of life. Now it’s time to show off the new space with a momentous Gala intended to thank supporters and donors and give them a personal introduction to this amazing resource for the Philadelphia region’s children and families.

Ta da! It’s the Please Touch Museum Gala in Memorial Hall at Fairmount Park Friday, October 3, 2008, at 6 PM.

The Gala is the kick-off party for a two week series of pre-opening events giving guests the very first look at the new space. Gala implies celebration and we’re doing it in a grand way. Local musicians and performers will be on hand for entertainment. Cocktails, plentiful hors d’oeuvres, and delicious desserts will vie for your culinary attention, and then get your feet and fingers busy with exploring the Please Touch Museum’s exciting new exhibits and magnificently restored building.

Need a refresher course in what Please Touch offers the kids? Exhibits and shows include City Capers, Flight Fantasy, Roadside Attractions, River Adventures, Wonderland, Centennial Exploration, Liberty Arm and Torch, Please Touch Playhouse Theater, Collections, and Parent and Teacher resources.

Come on! Get in there and touch this stuff. We won’t tell if you won’t.

Once again, the Please Touch Museum Gala is located in Memorial Hall at Fairmount Park. E-mail Stephanie Lim Capello at scapello@pleasetouchmuseum.org with any questions regarding this celebration.

Last and certainly not least, proceeds raised will go to support the Please Touch Museum. See? Isn’t that a good deal all the way around?
