You’ve survived Monday (hopefully). Are you ready for Tuesday (9/9) and Wednesday (9/10) at Philly Fringe? Don’t bother spending all that time researching what you want to see. I’ve done all that already through a careful reading of a hermit crab’s entrails, and have the following juicy performance selections locked and loaded for your visual perusement.
Les Femmes (Walking Fish Theatre, 9/9/2008, 6:00 pm, $10)

Coco Chanel, Natalie Wood, Greta Garbo, and Marian Davies. Four in-depth vignettes strip these twentieth century women down to the core of their true selves. It’s like meeting them!
The Widow’s Blind Date (Walnut Street Theatre Independence, 9/9/2008, 7:00 pm, $20)

A ménage a trios of sex, violence, and humor written by Israel Horowitz. Considered one of his best plays, critics have claimed, “The Widow’s Blind Date is one of the most tightly constructed, riveting pieces of playwriting you’ll ever see performed in a theater.” High praise indeed.
Dangerous Fools (2nd Stage at The Adrienne, 9/9/2008, 8:30 pm, $10)

Armed with nothing but a blank stage, a simple suggestion, and two twisted minds, seasoned improv performers Thomas Fowler and Mary Carpenter take you on a hilarious, unique, and dangerously unpredictable ride. Don’t be afraid to be in the audience.
A Priest Walks Into A Bar (L2 Restaurant and Bar, 9/10/2008, 7:30 pm, $10)

A priest, a rabbi, and a minister walk into a bar. Yes, as a matter of fact this IS some kind of joke. Find out what the Vagabond Acting Troupe will do with “Ten rehearsals, jokes, and a bar” in this process-oriented experiment.
Bedtime Stories (The Shubin Theatre, 9/10/2008, 8:00 pm, $10)

Great introduction to the emerging local comedy scene. This special edition of Bedtime Stories presents the best bits of the year. Come see what has become Philadelphia’s most popular monthly comedy event.
Ballad Boys (The Playground @ The Adrienne, 9/10/2008, 9:00 pm, $15)

Catch two brothers at the beginning of adulthood, trying to figure out their lives by writing music and playing songs. Can they connect with a girl named Amy in this play/rock concert/video production/kitchen sink production? I sure hope so.
See how simple I’ve made your life? All that’s left for you is to pick up your wallet and walk out the door in the general direction of one of these fine Fringe venues. If you get lost, seek the hermit crab, for he shall show you the way.
