Are you jonesing for your fix yet? You know the one I mean – ThisWeekInPhilly.com’s always on time day guide to Philly Fringe 2008. I’ve broken my crystal ball in a psychotic fit of anger and am now looking for signs in the remains of a cherry-pineapple dump cake. Here’s what I’m seeing…and what you should see tomorrow because I’m a trustworthy sort of fellow with unerring taste in entertainment.
Bash/Latterday Plays (Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church, 9/5/2008 @ 8:00 pm, $15)

How well do you know your neighbors – REALLY know your neighbors? Secrets, twisted histories, and shameful actions are laid bare in this contemporary riff on classic Greek dramas. No one does screwed up better than Greek myths but director Aaron Oster mixes it up right in BASH, three tales of everyday Americans with stories as large and powerful as a myth.
Stuporwoman (Suzanne Roberts Theatre, 9/5/2008 @ 9:00 pm, $25)

An operatic and humorous fairytale that takes a look at motherhood and parenting in the 21st century, Stuporwoman features the stunning movement style of St. Lucia-born choreographer Tania Isaac. With original text by playwright Bridget Carpenter, live music by Philadelphia Opera Company violinist Heather Zimmerman, Isaac weaves a tongue-in-cheek, serious and satirical story of the absurdity of trying to balance it all in life; work, family, and conflict.
Store (244 South Street, 9/5/2008 @ 11:00am – 2pm & 3pm-6pm, FREE )

Store is a shop. Art is a business. Walk in and you’re presented with a price list, ranging from .80 cents to $5. Participate by purchasing an art product like dramatic scenes, practical jokes, art installations, movements, actions, and behaviors. Your purchase is immediately acted out by Michikazu Matsune and David Subal. Truly original. Gotta go see this one.
Take one or all three (I won’t tell) of these performances and put it on your schedule. I don’t think you can go wrong here, unless you don’t go at all.
