Looking for some Fall-ish things to do in Philadelphia?
For ten years, the Morris Arboretum has been throwing a Fall Festival party for the Philadelphia area. Dozens of folks from across the Delaware Valley look forward to this family friendly time of fun and activity in the afternoon at the Morris Arboretum’s Fall Festival. Mark your calendar for Sunday, October 5, 2008, at 11 AM.
Glorious natural landscapes provide a stunning visual backdrop for the event, with trees of all varieties bursting forth in hues of orange and red. Feel like making a scarecrow? You’ve come to the right place. All materials are provided, including scarecrow frames, hay, and a vast selection of clothing. This is serious business for those intending to have the “Best Dressed” scarecrow, so bring your ‘A’ game and get ready to rumble, creatively speaking, of course. Come early and head to the scarecrow closet right away to get the best picks. Cost is $10 for members and $12 for non-members.
Want to create the next great pumpkin masterpiece? You’re still in the right place. Buy a pumpkin and paint it in a variety of colors. Add glitter, yarn, pompoms and doilies. Other favorite activities include face painting, honey demonstration and sales, craft making, and a thrilling demonstration of the 4,000 year old art and sport of falconry by Master Falconer Mike Dupuy, who will be on hand to show off his birds of prey.
Last and certainly not least, you’ll want to stop by the Weavers Way Co-op area for a selection of organic, locally grown produce and other Co-op products.
The Morris Arboretum is located at 100 East Northwestern Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118. There is NO ATM located on the property, so prepare accordingly!
