There’s a beer dinner Saturday, August 2, 2008, at World Café Live, headlined by jazz guitarist Charlie Hunter and his trio! Chef Matt Babbage brings his usual sterling selection of dinner choices, while Lost Abbey Brewery supplies the featured beer.
And what a choice of beer in store for you: Lost Abbey Lost and Found, Lost Abbey Red Barn Ale, and Lost Abbey Avante Garde.
Dinner is looking pretty special as well:
- Belgian endive salad with roasted beets, grapefruit, fennel, pine nuts, goat cheese, and citrus vinagrette
- Lost Abbey mussels steamed in Red Barn Ale with ginger, orange peel and black pepper
- Spinach, gouda, and caramelized onion-stuffed chicken with mashed red bliss potatoes
- Lost Abbey Lost and Found cheesecake with drunken raspberries in an Oreo crust
$40 gets you dinner and $18 for tickets to the show. If you like, go a la carte and just sample what you like. Starts at 7:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm.
Maybe you haven’t heard of Charlie Hunter yet. Have you heard of Joe Satriani? Wow. Not him either. Let’s just say he’s one of the most righteous, inventive human beings to ever pick up the electric guitar. Joe’s a legend. Well, Charlie learned from Joe at an early age and, though he veered into the jazz genre, while Joe stayed solidly in hard rock, this trio lays the licks down when it comes to music.
The World Cafe Live is located at 3025 Walnut St., University City. Or call ‘em up at 215.222.1400 and say, “I’ve been surfing with the alien!”
