Fork 2.0 – the restaurant: Fork Restaurant

I like plain, simple names and they don’t get much better than Fork in Old City Philadelphia. Yep, I said Fork – like in the eating utensil. Maybe you’ve heard of it. Maybe you haven’t. If you haven’t, go there as fast as humanly possible. That’s all the thanks I need.

Local and national press have been singing their praises for some time now, including The New York Times, USA Today, Town and Country, Food and Wine, Wine Spectator, Zagat’s, and Gourmet. Philadelphia Magazine called Fork’s lunch and brunch menu the best of all Philadelphia restaurants. That same magazine also recognized their wine list with a “Best of Philly” award for “Wine List with Real-World Prices.”

So, what does Fork do to make everyone like them so darn much?

Oh, a little this and that. Delicious, seasonal food. Fresh, inventive selections that reflect the American Bistro spirit. Fork’s menu is printed daily with international influences playing a key role in the choices they make. Many of their high quality ingredients are supplied by local farmers from throughout the local Philadelphia area.

With a hip, stylish allure, Fork is the antithesis of a stuffy dining experience. You’re always among friends hanging with them.

Let’s take a look at that award-winning lunch menu we just mentioned. Please try to confine your drooling to the corners of the screen. If it were me, I’d start off with a curried seafood bisque appetizer and Asian chicken salad (soba noodles, watercress, Thai basil, red onion, sesame seeds). Then I’d opt for either the smoked salmon sandwich (avocado, watercress, caper mayo, orzo salad) or, if I’m a bit hungrier, the stuffed chile rellenos (jasmine rice, peas, eggplant, scallions, pine nuts, cheddar, jack cheese, ancho chili sauce, green papaya-Thai basil sauce).

But that’s just me.

And that’s only one way to go from a single menu. There are dozens of other choices and combinations you could make. The best selection right now would to check out Fork’s website and browse ALL their menus. Pretty impressive.

Fork is located at 306 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA, or call them at 215-625-9425. Please don’t say, “Stick a fork in me. I’m done.” They’ve heard it before.
