If only mother would buy me crayons: Fine Arts and Crafts Festival

If I was a hard-working local artist I’d be sure to say “Bravo!” to the Community Arts Center (CAC) in Wallingford, PA, at least once a year. Six years ago, a group of artists working at CAC organized the event which became the Fine Arts and Crafts Festival. This year it takes place Saturday and Sunday, September 27th and 28th, 2008, from 10 AM to 5 PM (rain or shine) at Rose Tree Park in Media, PA.

The great part about this festival is it features original artwork by some of the area’s finest artists and craftspeople. That’s the key point. Gotta be a local to decorate at this party. Of course, everyone else in the whole wide world is welcome to attend but, sorry Michelangelo and Picasso, you need to live nearby to show your work.

Hey, another great artist might be lurking out there, waiting for a chance to strut his brushes or textile materials. The CAC’s mission has always been not only to promote the work of area artists but also provide the opportunity for the public to view the true talent on display by some of the finest contemporary artists around.

But this festival ain’t only about looking at stuff and “Oohing” and “Ahhing”. No sir and ma’am. There will also be live music performances, artists’ demonstrations, childrens activities, and great food because, after all, what self-respecting festival would throw itself without something good for the people to eat?

There’s plenty of space in the park. No worries about parking (it’s free) or getting crammed elbow to elbow with a gaggle of strangers (it’s big). All they need is you to help them enjoy this unique event.

Find out more about the CAC and the Fine Arts and Crafts Festival here. Rose Tree Park is located on Providence Road in Media, PA. If you happen to get lost and wish you weren’t, call the organizers at 610-566-1713 and they’ll probably help you out.
