Description: Join Andrew Bunting, Curator of the Scott Arboretum, for a series of free tours at the Scott Arboretum. \’\'A Walk with the Curator\’\’ program, previously only available to interns of the Scott Arboretum, provides an in-depth look at the collections, gardens, and plant selections through the eyes of the man responsible for curating the collection. Andrew Bunting will discuss the most recent accessions acquired for the collection, why plants were removed from the collection and maybe should be removed from your garden, as well as the latest garden designs at the Scott Arboretum. The tours are a Monday each month from 2:30 to 3:30 pm, and the topics are the curator\’s preference.

Description: Eastern State Penitentiary offers one-hour walking tours of its center surveillance hub, cell blocks, and baseball diamond, and \”death row,\” as well as Al Capone\’s former cell, and more. Complimentary hot chocolate is served in the center surveillance hub. Tours are limited to 25 people; routes may change to accommodate the weather. Tickets are available at the door and can be reserved in advance online. Note: Children under the age of seven are not permitted inside the penitentiary.

Description: The Constitutional Walking Tour of Philadelphia and the African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP) offer a combination field trip experience for school groups to celebrate Black History Month. A 75-minute walking tour through America\’s birthplace features 15 historic sites and attractions, including the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Declaration House, the President\’s house site, Mother Bethel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, and Washington (Congo) Square. At AAMP, students can learn about the African American perspective on the Vietnam War in the Soul Soldiers: African Americans and the Vietnam Era exhibit, and participate in multi-disciplinary educational programs that explore African forms of cultural expression and their links to African Americans within the region and throughout the African Diaspora. Tours of at least 25 people depart and conclude at the National Constitution Center; one free adult chaperone is admitted per 10 children. Advance registration is required.
