Had it with the crazed shenanigans on American Idol? Tired enough of acerbic Simon, ditzy Paula, and dull Randy? Maybe not. Maybe you really like the judges and find them to be a great part of the show. Some people, not so much.
But what about the music? Wasn’t it supposed to be about the music?
Delco Idol 2008 is the region’s premier talent contest! And don’t you forget it. It’s all about the talent here. Held at the Media Theater Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at 7:00 pm, you will find yourself in the correct location if you go to 104 East State Street, Media, PA, at the appointed time.
Expect to be wowed. Expect to wonder why the heck these people aren’t on television and all those other clowns are? Sorry, that’s the nature of showbiz. Freaks and clowns sell advertising.
Come see Delco Idol for the real deal. This version of Idol is an outreach program for young people interested in theatre and the performing arts. Plus, we’ll say it, it’s always exciting to find new talent, and there is always new talent lurking out there. Contestants, bring your friends and family and bribe them to cheer loudly for you. It’s a great all-ages event, and showcases The Media Theatre as the important resource it is to the Delaware County region.
It’s fun singing your heart out even if you don’t win and, remember, who knows what talent scout might be lurking out there in the darkness of the audience? Sadly, if you wanted to audition for this talent competition, that time has passed. 30 contestants have already been chosen.
But never fear, the way this thing is going, I’m pretty sure there will be another edition of Delco Idol next year. Stay tuned to this website for when and where you can try out. Until then, keep those pipes loose and that shower head microphone warm.
Visit The Media Theatre website for ticket information and performance schedule. Alternately, you could call 610.891.0100 and claim you’re Ryan Seacrest looking for work.
