Burnin’ the big, brown heaters: Cigar Festival

For some of you, there’s nothing like a day in the park with your fellow aficionados burning your favorite stick. Cigars, that is. It’s that time again: The Herf Bros. Monthly Herf. This one takes place at Delaware Park Racetrack and Casino. We’re talking all the good things in life, or at least a solid sampling. Fine food, beer, and cigars will be ready and waiting for the herfs to arrive Saturday, September 13, 2008, from 1-5pm.

Wondering what the hell a herf is? So was I until I went to CigarAdvisor.com and found this definition: “A lively gathering of cigar-smoking comrades who meet in a restaurant, club, cigar store, or home to share their appreciation of fine cigars.

Just in case you’re not up to speed on inappropriate historical uses of the cigar, don’t forget about Monica and Bill. 1996? My, doesn’t time fly when you’re not having any more fun?

Need more information about the Delaware Park herf? Visit the Herf Bros. website, e-mail Gary at grif5039@comcast.net or contact him by telephone at 302.836.4889. Delaware Park Racetrack and Casino is located at 777 Delaware Park Boulevard, Newark, DE.

And don’t forget these guys (and gals) are herfin’ for a good cause. Proceeds raised benefit the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation so, whether you like to puff on a good stogie or simply inhale the rich aroma, show up for a good time and help someone who needs it. I know a lot of TWIP readers are in Philadelphia but Newark’s not that far away. Heck, you could sprint that if you had to.
