The laugh police don’t have a chance: ComedySportz

There are two laugh out loud shows in Philadelphia every Saturday at 7:30 pm and 10:00pm. Don’t even ask what they are. Just go there and get ready for the sort of entertaining evening you don’t find often. Okay, okay, I’ll tell you what it is.

It’s called ComedySportz and what the heck does that mean? Smarter people than me have called it the fastest and funniest form of comedy you’ve ever seen. Remember Whose Line Is It Anyway? with Drew Carey? Ah ha…I see the lights starting to flicker on in your brain. That WAS funny stuff for those of us sober enough to remember it, especially if you were trying to figure out exactly how points were assigned.

ComedySportz is like that. Maybe better. Two teams of “act-letes” vie for points in a hilarious competition by performing in a series of improvisational theatre games. Only this time there’s an actual referee who governs the action, calls fouls, and keeps the match moving at a blistering pace. Just how fast is blistering? The exact speed can only be revealed if you have the highest level of security clearance and I’m pretty sure no one in the reading audience does. However, let me just say that it makes a breakneck pace look sleepy.

The audience is always part of this interactive, so be ready – you might end up on stage. Be there every Saturday night if you like. The nature of improv assures you’ll never see the same show twice. ComedySportz is unique and unforgettable. If you’re looking for one of those different sort of things to do in Philadelphia, stop looking! You found it.

Find out more information about ComedySportz now. Shows are held at The Playground Theatre, 2030 Sansom Street, Philadelphia, PA.

  1. [...] ComedySportz (Playground, The 2030 Sansom Street, Philadelphia) It’s the fastest, funniest form of comedy to ever stand on two feet! Two teams of what they call “act-letes” vie for points in a hilarious competition by playing a series of improvisational theatre games. A referee paces the stage, calling fouls and keeping the pace moving at breakneck speed. If you’re in the audience, be careful, you might wind up on stage. If you’re not in the audience, what the hell are you doing missing a great show like this. Since it’s improv, you never see the same thing twice. If you liked Drew Carey’s Whose Line Is It Anyway, I bet a washtub full of possums you’ll like ComedySportz. [...]
