Patronize restaurants, not bunnies: Center City District Restaurant Week

Taking center stage like a champion prize fighter, Center City District Restaurant Week returns to Philadelphia this September 14 -19, 2008, ready to take all comers and give them a three-course meal for only $35 (not including alcohol, tax, and gratuity). Still, this is a heck of a deal when you consider the tasty assortment of participating restaurants.

Whatever your pleasure, from steak to sushi, Italian to Brazilian and most styles in between, you’re probably going to find it on that dang list. At first glance, I see Devon Seafood, 1225 Raw Sushi & Sake Lounge, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar, El Vez, The Prime Rib – hell, you can find them yourself just as easy. Take a look and try to keep the drooling to a minimum.

If you’re interested in dining at one of these fine businesses, be sure to go ahead and make your reservations online because seats are not unlimited. In other words they go fast, so don’t come whining to me if you miss out on the one you REALLY wanted to go to.

How the heck does Center City manage to get you such a sweet deal on dining? Support the participating restaurants by patronizing them throughout the year and they might be kindly disposed to repeat Restaurant Week next year. And the deal just keeps getting better. Several parking facilities are offering diners discounted rates as well.

Go learn more about Restaurant Week and see the great Philadelphia restaurants taking part.

I’m sorry but my use of the word ‘patronizing’ a few lines back spawned the following random word association in my head.

“You patronize us all like bunnies!”

“I don’t patronize bunnies.”

Name the movie the previous conversation took place in and win an extra special prize of your own choosing, which means you’ll be giving the prize to yourself from something you already own. Which actually means there is no prize. But just think how proud it should make you to know you’re such a movie geek. Or not. Maybe I’M the movie geek. Crud. I hate it when that happens.

Aloha means goodbye.
