The biggest disaster epic of all time! Bee Movie Screening

Some people, me included, think Jerry Seinfeld is a funny guy. After the curtain call of his eponymous sitcom on NBC in 1998, he sort of disappeared until 2005 when Bee Movie appeared on the horizon, written and voiced by the man himself.

As his first major project since retiring Seinfeld, Bee Movie is a solid double to left center – it’s got some great humor and is chock full of life lessons aimed at the kiddie set. Still, as middle-aged guy I got a kick out of it too. Just don’t arrive looking for the answers to life, the universe, and everything, because it ain’t got that.

Have kids and need to get them out of the house before one or more of you go crazy? Need a good place to see Bee Movie? This is your lucky day. It’s being screened Thursday, August 28, 2008, as part of the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing season of Screenings Under the Stars. The showing of Bee Movie is free and takes place at dusk on Columbus Boulevard at Chestnut Street here in Philadelphia. I hope you’re still waiting for the best part because here it comes. Prior to the movie, around 6:00 pm, you’re invited to watch The Great Holtzie’s high energy comic performance for the kids. You can rely on the Great One to get the little ones all lathered up into a shrieking frenzy, then laugh to himself as he watches the parents try to calm them down to watch the movie. Holtzie aims his absurd, slapstick show at kids under 10 but, admit it, you know you’re going to like it too.

The unique outdoor setting of the Great Plaza as a movie venue surpasses the atmosphere of your local theater and always ranks high on things to do in Philadelphia when you’re bored.
