So just who are the people behind the masks?
Phil (Personal Motivator to Philena) (not his real name, ewwww) is a 30 , 40 something Philadelphia veteran (although he did fly the coop from Northeast Philly to the burbs in Bucks County awhile ago) who loves flexing his chicken wings biceps to convince himself he’s still “got it.”
Philena (her real name, well, at least it’s better than her real name) (Editorial/Creative Director) is a spry 32 year old lady wench who still gets carded, and has been mistaken for Phil’s daughter when being pulled over for speeding, not that she was guilty, ahem. While she’s a transplant from Williamsport PA, she loves dragging Phil into the city so she can relive her college days (pretending that she actually had a life in college) and forget that they have 4 kids back at home.
Derek Dowell (his actual, totally true, real, name) (Writer) I spent a lot of time in my room as a child – mainly due to misunderstandings with my parents related to the appropriate-ness of slapping my younger twin brothers for their very existence. The nerve, stepping into my idyllic life like that. I’ve done other things in my life, but forgotten most of them. Lately, I’ve turned to writing to release cranial pressure. My wife pointed out the brain bulges in my skull were getting bigger. Thanks for that. I’m pretty sure it was her polite way of saying my head is ugly. That’s okay. I’ve got a face for blogging and a voice for mime. Hello Philadelphia!
Bob E. Whalon (Philadelphia Sports Contributor) was born and raised in the Philadelphia suburbs and currently lives in Souderton, PA with his wife and two kids. His sports fandom was molded in the 70s and 80s, so he’s seen more than his share of bad Philly teams. He’s been alive for all five Philadelphia sports parades, but was only old enough to actually attend the last one. He is a season ticket holder for the Eagles and is obsessed with convincing everyone that Andy Reid must go. He is seeking therapy, but only Jeffrey Lurie can truly cure him of his unhealthy obsession. We at TWIP refer to him as “Angry Bob.” Want to comment on his articles? Email him: angrybob@thisweekinphilly.com (The views expressed by Bob are his own and not necessarily that of the rest of TWIP management or staff.)
